Turning up the sound isn’t always the answer. At some point the sound becomes distorted and comprehension suffers. Your relationships with everyone else in the house suffers too —they are being blasted out of the room.
Instead of relaxing with your favorite TV shows you strain harder to hear what is being said—even with the best of hearing aids or cochlear implants struggling to understand dialogue is stressful.
The PLA 240 Small Room Loop system consists of an amplifier that connects directly to your TV sound system and a thin wire connected to the amplifier that is installed around the area that you normally occupy when watching TV. You experience improved comprehension because there is no degradation of clarity since sound waves are not traveling through the air and there is no interference from background noises.
What’s new about the PLA 240? It has a remote control allowing you to adjust volume, tone, input selection, mute and Power ON/OFF from the comfort of your chair.
How it works: A very thin wire connected to the PLA 240 amplifier is placed around the perimeter of the room you wish to listen in and the current moving through this loop of wire produces a magnetic field which is picked up by a tiny copper coil (T-coil) in your Hearing Aid/Cochlear Implant. You control the volume with both your hearing aid and the control on the Room loop system. Those who don’t have a T-coil may use a loop listener with earphones. Installation is easy – use the clips in the kit to attach to baseboards or simply tape the wire underneath an area rug. Follow the written instructions or use the installation video on YouTube. Super easy: use an optional loop pad and loop only the chair you sit in.
PLA 240 can be connected to two different audio sources— your TV and your music system or radio —or two microphones– a touch of the button on the amplifier is all that’s needed to switch between audio sources. There’s even a microphone included with the system — be part of the conversation when friends drop by.
